குருதிக் கறைகள் உலராத மண்ணின் மூச்சுக்காற்று, கடல் கடந்தாலும், எங்கள் நெஞ்சைஉலுக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இலங்கை மண்ணில் தசாப்தகாலம் நீடித்த போர், எண்ணற்றஉறவுகளின் இழப்பையும், ஆறாத காயங்களையும் சுமந்து நிற்கிறது. அந்தப் போரின்சுவடுகளிலிருந்து விடுபட்டு, உலகின் பல திசைகளிலும் சிதறி வாழும் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்தின் இதயம், இன்றும் துடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இந்தத் துடிப்பின் புதிய குரலாக, நம்பிக்கையின் வித்தாக, புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழும் தமிழ் இளைய தலைமுறையினர் எழுந்து நிற்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் வெறும்புலம்பெயர்ந்தவர்கள் அல்ல; ஒரு தலைமுறையின் வேதனையைச் சுமந்து, எதிர்காலத்தின்வெளிச்சத்தை நோக்கியவர்கள்.

போரினால் சிதறிய வாழ்வின் ஓட்டத்தில், நாம் இழந்தது நிலம் மட்டுமல்ல, சில சமயங்களில் நம்அடையாளத்தின் ஆழமான இழைகளும் கூட. ஆனால், தொலைதூரத்தில் வாழ்ந்தாலும், எங்கள்இளையோர் மனதில், எங்கள் தமிழ் பண்பாட்டின் உன்னதமும், மொழியின் இனிமையும், மரபுகளின் வலிமையும் அணையாத தீபமாய் எரிகிறது. புலம்பெயர்ந்த மண்ணில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்ததலைமுறையினர், தங்கள் பெற்றோர் சுமந்து வந்த கதைகளைக் கேட்டு, தங்கள் மூதாதையரின்தியாகத்தை உணர்ந்து, அந்த வேர்களை ஆழமாகப் பற்றிக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். தமிழைப் பேசுவது, எங்கள் வரலாற்றாயும் நாடகங்களையும், பாடல்களையும், நடனங்களையும் உயிர்ப்புடன்வைத்திருப்பது,வெறும் சடங்குகள் அல்ல. அவை, எங்கள் அஸ்திவாரத்தை அடுத்ததலைமுறைக்குக் கடத்தும் பாலம். உலகின் எந்த மூலையில் இருந்தாலும், எங்கள் இதயம்தமிழுக்காகத் துடிக்க வேண்டும். அதுவே, எங்கள் முதல் கடமை, உணர்வுபூர்வமான பொறுப்பு.

எமது தாயக  பிரதேசங்களில் போரினால் சிதைந்த வாழ்வு, இன்னும் முழுமையாக மீளவில்லை. அங்கு இடிபாடுகளுக்கு மத்தியில் எழும் ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டுக் கூரையிலும், ஒவ்வொரு குழந்தையின்கல்விப் புத்தகத்திலும், ஒவ்வொரு நோயாளியின் மருந்திலும், எங்கள் புலம்பெயர் இளையோரின்கரம் நீள வேண்டும். வெறும் நிதி உதவிகள் மட்டுமல்லாமல், எங்கள் அறிவு, திறமைகள், உலகளாவிய அனுபவங்கள் ஆகியவற்றையும் தாயகத்தின் மறுசீரமைப்புக்குப் பயன்படுத்தலாம். கல்வி, சுகாதாரம், விவசாயம், தொழில்நுட்பம் எனப் பல துறைகளிலும் நாங்கள் மாற்றத்தைக்கொண்டு வர முடியும்.
